Margot Thyssen is a creative ceramicist and designer based in Belgium.

Margot Thyssen studied and trained herself in the multi-layer slip casting technique.

Using 2 to 7 layers of porcelain (ex. white-black-white ….) Her exceptional command of this technique combined with the right firing temperature and times for these pieces afford her the maximum room with which to play with transparency. The coloured intermediate layer shines through the white porcelain and appears as a fine line or pattern caught between the two white layers.

“Through my creations I am constantly striving to obtain purity and harmony between detail and simplicity. Working with basic shapes, using different layers of porcelain that result in a play between fine lines, patterns, light and romantic sensivity. I want to push the transparency and perfection of my objects to their ultimate limits. I attempt to achieve the balance between formal Art and Design.”
